Now, of course, the little wuss is back-pedaling like a honey-coated cyclist who just encountered a bear. Here is the latest on the story: Republican congressional nominee John Johnston expressed his party’s attitude towards the poor, vis and to wit:
“For almost three generations people, in some cases, have been given handouts,” Johnston said during the discussion. “They have been ‘enabled’ so much that their paradigm in life is simply being given the stuff of life, however meager.”
“What you see is a setting for a life of misery is life to them never-the-less,” he continued. “No one has the guts to just let them wither and die. No one who wants votes is willing to call a spade a spade. As long as the Dems can get their votes the enabling will continue. The Republicans need their votes and dare not cut the fiscal tether. It is really a political Catch-22.”
Since people caught him inadvertently being honest about his Ayn Rand “fuck the poor” attitudes, Little Johnny is trying to pretend that he didn’t really mean it. Bullshit. He meant it, as do Republicans across the country.
Ebeneezer Scrooge once suggested that it was better the poor die, and thus “decrease the surplus population”. But Scrooge was a fictional character, a caricature of the wealthy and uncaring elite of his day. He wasn’t real.
John Johnston and the rest of the Republican Party ARE real. They DO think it’s OK to let people “wither and die” if they aren’t rich, white, male Conservatives. As do any and all of those who cast votes for Repubs.
